CG-Nation World Design Document

Finally included is the first revision of the CG-Nation World Game Design document:

Design Document V1

Included is information on the game itself, interface mockups, maps of the cities, and programming brainstorming.  Don't consider any of what you see as final yet, it can and will change based on community input.

Those who are interested in being a part of the core team to model buildings and other default assets can use this to get an idea for what they may want to help with.  Official collaboration on the project wont start until January 2010 as we are working on getting a new online collaboration system working for CG-Nation artists.

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

Woo!  Good to see the progress being made.  MY only big crit is that everything is too square and not natural enough in my opinion.  Here's a quick thought from me:

have it be like an actual city in a way.  Have the N. E. S. and W. quadrants around the downtown area.  The suburbs go more on the outside instead of having their own little section.  Then it's a bit more expanded in some ways.  Also, stay away from anything too square.  Blocks can be rectangular, but remember that irregularities in landscape always change how things have to flow.  They give a bit of room for green space as well which can always be nice!

Looks fantastic though, very ambitious project!

Thanks!

The squares just illustrate the bounds of the territory aloted for that building.  I'm going to leave the design of the building and the land its on up to the community.

I think you have a good point about the quadrants around the downtown area.  When I work on the next versions of the design document, I'll redesign the world map with that in mind.

Thanks for the tips!

I completely agree with hihosilver.

The main thing bothering me is that it might be a bit too ambitious, we'll see though, I've started modelling/texturing/animating/stab things for it now.

EDIT: Whoa TP, I was a minute late! ;)
