Lets be honest guys.  There was a variety of reasons why people didn't participate in competitions, but I think the key reason why no one cared was simple - there was no real reward.  CPs and badges on your profile are one thing, but real tangible prizes, prizes that'll help make you an even better artist, are another.

This summer I want to change that.  Starting in June, we are going to be launching new competitions with real prizes.

The number of competitions are going to be greatly reduced, leaving us with just two of the most popular comps:

1. Speed Modeling
2. XX

Later today, the first of the new Speed Modeling Competitions will be launched.  June 1st, the first new XX will be launched, featuring real prizes for the winners.  Prizes could include:

• Books (Computer Graphics and art related)
• Computer Accessories (mice, mice pads, thumb drives, etc)
• And More... (CG-Nation hats and shirts, and other neat items)

Prizes offered for each competition won't be announced until after the voting period begins.

Also, TheMan will be helping manage the Speed Modeling Competitions starting today.  As usual, if you have any suggestions for a SMC, contact either he or I!
