I am running it on OS X, it seems to be running pretty well, nothing really big that I am using now that I wasnt before, but yea, we are 1 release away from the big 2.5 release. Also, a update to 2.49 is supposed to be released in about a week or two.

Ummm...everytime I have downloaded it, 2.48 is what downloads. I have a 64-bit windows system, so I have to get the .zip file. I uncompress it, and then open it, and it shows 2.48 when it opens. I've done it twice.

I'm not sure what you're situation is. Try it again, i've just downloaded it and it's indeed 2.49.

I got it to work. But now python 2.6.2 doesn't work.

It might be as simple as going to python.org and downloading the installer for python 2.6.2. I would imagine it is 64bit compatible. ALso, from what I remember in windows using blender, python wasnt all that needed, unless you need to run a certain script, which I don't find myself doing that often.

yeah i redownloaded it from the site, but it can't find it. same thing happened with blender 2.48, and i did something random and it worked. i will try again.

Ummm...Does anyone know how to use a theme from a previous Blender? I got the updated blender 2.49a, but I already made a theme in 2.49. Does anyone know how I can get the same one without having to redo it?

Yes.
Are you using Windows Vista\Windows 7 or below? This matters as it depends on where the b.blend file is placed.

Oh...I have noticed that. I have vista. Ummm...So do I just open that file and ctrl+U and I have it? I will try it. I found it once before when I was looking for something wrong with python. Have you gotten it to work?

I've always had it working.
You need to find and open the b.blend file, if you are in Vista, its usually in the C:/User/[something]/AppData/... folder. Its best to copy this file out of that location and store it somewhere easier to access for future updates.

Hey everyone. Just to let everyone know, blender 2.49a has just been released. Here is a list of bug fixes for this release:

One thing I did notice is that now Blender.org added the .deb format for downloading, though when in Ubuntu, i just download the tar.gz file and unpack it, and just run the binary from there.

Nah, you shouldnt need to. When you open Blender, it will say something to the effect of "Searching for python 2.6.2.... Okay, found it" or something like that. Even if it doesnt say that, Blender will still run just fine. Python is really only used for scripts, which I know are big in the game engine, and their are a few other scripts, but personally, I dont find myself using scripts all too often in Blender. Back in my windows days, I remember I waited forever to actually install python on my computer, cause it really isnt needed.
