Check out the website I've just put together! I'm using an online flash website builder called Wix (www.wix.com)
It's very intuitive and simple, and very fast (especially when you want a high quality website quickly!)
I'm very happy about how my website turned out, and I hope you all enjoy it too. Let me know if you have any criticism, or anything you think I should improve (or perhaps things I didn't include that I should!) Currently I'm looking into seeing if there's a way to implement some kind of blogging system (though I could simply set up my own page with text and make it a "custom" blog, though people wouldn't get updates and couldn't subscribe)
This website is mainly for college scholarships currently, though I'm also using it to help me get a strong senior project with either Laika or Bent Image Studio!
Thanks,
Hihosilver

Hey good looking website you have there..
First comment is of course that all the work is a bit outdated, some of the work wouldn't be up to the standard you would make it now I think. So making more (current) content would always be good! But we know how you are time-wise.. so it might be too much to ask.
Secondly, you might want to add some wireframes to at least the game art section.
As far as the design of the website goes, it is very nice and simple, easy to navigate etc. so good work!
Keep it updated!

Looks nice. I agree about the older work, you should try fleshing out your portfolio with some fresh content. But I wonder, who's that goofy looking kid on the front page? ;)

The site looks nice. Nice and simple, only thing is in the 3d section, the images on the left would be alot better if they were turned right side up instead of side ways. The way it is now, it makes me want to turn my head to the side to see what they are. In web design if you make something that serves no purpose to people then it shouldn't be there. Also the text on the rollover is too small to read.

Great criticism guys, keep it coming!
You're very right about fresh content, sadly I don't have any
. The main goal was to first get a website up, but I'll be sure to update it as I create more artwork!
Good call on the wireframes Simon, I was hoping I could make something so when you scrolled over an image it would show the wireframe, but that hasn't worked, so I think I'll just throw the images in side by side.
Haha he's a big goof, I just pretend I don't know him ;)
Siragin, thanks I agree with you there. I was hoping there was a way to turn them right-side up, but it looks like I'll just have to move that entire bar below the image instead of on the side (I was looking for more space for the images.)
Thanks again guys, this is all very helpful!

Nice work Hiho, it looks very flash. I think having your pic on it might scare people away though! (just joking).
My comp wouldn't load the site, except for the landing page, so maybe I need to upgrade my flash?
from what I can see it looks very professional.
I recently started a simple blog with google (free) and it;s very easy to work. Over the last three months I've averaged 700 hits per month, because I do something called illustration friday and monday art day. I'd reccommend them if you want traffic.
when I update my flash I'll check it out.
cheers for now

Thanks mate! That's a good point, I figured if they want me at their school they'd have to see my face at some point anyways. Might as well break them in early.
Ah perhaps, that's a good point I hadn't thought of, I hope too many people don't have that trouble. That sounds like a good idea, my brother has a blogspot as well, and I'll have to ask him how that's going. I'll probably just have to put a link to it on my website, but I was hoping I could integrate it with the site. Thanks for the recommendation!
Cheers

Finally, something up my alley!
I'll be honest, i'm not a fan of using Flash for websites. That said, it's not a bad site. A few issues (though seeing as its a template, there is probably nothing you can do about it)
Maybe in your next portfolio site, try going for a HTML/CSS based one?
Otherwise, very good!

Thanks for all the input so far guys, it's really helpful.
Recently I just changed the 3D art section (I turned the thumbnails upright, which should help with viewing aesthetics. I also found a way to change the way the website works. Apparently there's a setting for "best fit" which it was on, and "true size" which I changed it to. The website shouldn't resize to your window size anymore which is nice. Let me know if you experience it otherwise.
I also upped the size (and area) of the text on the home page to make the readability a bit better.
TheProducer: I definitely plan to turn to an HTML/CSS based site when I get the time (and experience!) I had to get this site up quickly and I wanted it to still look as nice as possible so I figured this was the best option!
If you guys have any more crits feel free to dish them out, I'm trying to make this look as nice and user-friendly as possible!
