Kv-1 Russian Tank

Here is a Tank that I have been creating for a little while for my university project , It is still far from completion and I am going to use this model here for the high poly to create my normal map for a low poly version .

What do you think of this piece?

Yeah the tracks are the bit that I have put most concentration into creating , they are going to be rather difficult to create into a normal map and apply to a lower poly tank tread.

The main bulk still needs alot of work with more details added and some of the edges made sharper.

Here is a modification to my tank , I havent really been working much on it tbf .. its a university project that im working on slowly.  I have rendered these without the tracks cus they take up too much memory lol.

Just a little update..Made some minor adjustments almost completed the actual model now thank god :)

Here is a little mess around that was conducted to see how low poly I could get my tracks this test is just a simple one and there is some texture stretching etc. The whole track is roughly 2.5k of tri's which isnt too bad im aiming to get my whole tank under 10k :)

I have a complete low poly version of my tank it is 19,685 tri's which isnt great but not too bad some optimisation could be done
.

I have created a normal map , Diffuse map ,Alpha map and Specular map for this model. Although the diffuse map sucks so I am going to remake it its just was under a deadline cus its a piece of uni work so hey. :)

this turned out really well for being low poly! i am impressed with how low it is considering the tank treads look really detailed and all.

ohh thanks im pretty happy with it , although the diffuse and spec needs alot of work as it does not reflect the model as well as it could , Here is a shot with just spec and normal on. 

In addition I would like to add that this is a realtime screenshot using a direct x shader , its not actually a render of the model so it looks as it would in a game.

Your normal maps look very strong.  I'm especially impressed with what you did with the treads.  One thing I'm wondering about are the wires/rope in the front of the tank.  Will there be something under them?  Otherwise they're looking very odd hanging in midair right now!

Im completly Agreed The wire is looking a Tad odd It was a university project and I made the Lowpoly ,  Normal and other Textures in like a week so I was rather rushed as I spent along time on my Highpoly, therefore I have not had time to modify it but I will As I am recreating the entire diffuse map because it was rubbish and modifier the Normal map with Scratches Etc , therefore I may as well go back and Change the Rope.

 

Cheers for comments people that as one of my first ever Normal mapped models so I comparitively Happy with it :)

Well you've done an awesome job so far!

I was talking to an animator yesterday, and he was telling me about how with studies, even though things are rushed, treat the projects like your own and as if they'll go into your portfolio.  If you do that then they just may go into your portfolio.  Or, if you do it with every piece, instead of trying to get enough work for your portfolio you'll be deciding on what to leave out!

Keep it up mate, good stuff
