All in anim8or with some image editing afterwards.
Pretty basic tbh, but just a test.
*update* made it slightly more interesting. The three columns are meant to represent three times in a summer day.

That's preaty nice. Did you use that copy to mesh plug-in to make the grass. The only thing I can say about it right now is that the grass needs some self shadowing to them, and you might want to use a trans map for the grass texture so the higher up the grass goes the thinner it will be. Also the shadow on the tree compared to the shadow casted on the ground does not match.

nope, manually copy and pasted.
Self shadowing doesn't work with transmaps with anim8or, as it doesn't recognise the transparency,
The grass is thinner at the top?
and yeah, the shadow on the tree was just a quick thing. I can sort of see the problem.

Very nice looking! I also like the visual style.
How well do you think this can be adapted for game useage?

It's nice but way to uniform, make it a a lot more random.

yeah, I have made a lot of shots at making grass. Now I don't know how different it is for a game engine than for rendering, but it takes a LONG time for me to render a scene. And a lot of RAM. Since I have 64-bit with 2gig of RAM, that doesn't leave me alot to use on the grass. 1gig is usually always taken up. I will try to get a picture of mine up shortly.

The Producer - I'm pretty sure It would work ok in games as it is just 3 flat planes per segment with a colour and alpha map. It would work really well with LOD I guess, but the only experiance I've had with games and stuff is with logic bricks in blender, so I don't know a lot about the technical sides.
this scene (with about 4 lights in scanline) took about a minute to render. (1024x768)
TheJob - I agree, I think eventually I will try and make a proper outdoor scene, and aim for as much realism as I can. But yeah, atm you can easily see the lines on which I copied and pasted it down.
:) thanks for comments guys

Use this as a texture for each strand of grass. It gives it a "fake" shadow. I use this method in Blender to save rendering time on particles. Dunno if this will help in Anim8or as it has no particle system... I'll try giving you an example but will take some time lol... got tonsilitus.

And here is mine. I have updated it since then, so I can't rerender it whatsoever. I was adding a couple of trees, and a few random objects before I put it in the gallery.

well, i followed a tutorial on how to create realistic grass by Andrew Price. Then I changed it to macth what I wanted, changed the landscape, added in water, and such.
