This is something I am working on for my youth group. They want to use it as a logo, and make T-shirts with it to sell. I guess I could call it my first commercial art made with computer graphics. They showed me what they wanted and I took off with it. I plan on putting the AFI really big in the foreground. I did everything solely in Blender and I may make a short clip to go with it.
I am still working on the colors of the "A Fire Inside". I also have to make the big AFI letters on front of it.

Looks good!
However, I would reconsider the design of the "A Fire Inside". At first glance, its very hard to read - a logo should be easily readable.

Dang Matt that looks pretty good, the only problem that If you put AFI then people will think that it is the band and not the youth group

Umm...I would think that "A Fire Inside" would give the hint that it is not the band, though I don't know that band. Also, since we are going to hand them out personally, I don't think it should be a problem.
I will bring up a red one soon and see which you like best.

how about a yellow shine (like an outline) and white text? maybe change the color of the cracks into orange or something.

Well, I like the outline idea, but I don't think it would be easy to make since it is a mesh. The problem with changing the color, is that I want it to look like the fire is shining through cracks in the heart, and fire is more than one color. I will try it and see what it looks like though.

i actually meant like an orange tint to the cracks to differentiate it from the shine.
can't you edit it a bit on an image editor? at least you could experiment on how other olors may look on your image.

well Im using nodes for all that stuff. Im using three hearts, all with the same texture. One has a negative normal and is only red. The other has a yellow texture with regular normal, to show the cracks. This is probally the one you are talking about. The last has the same yellow texture with another white texture offsetted, and a black texture to keep it shining only through the cracks. The last heart I use a node to zoom it to make it seem that it is coming from the cracks. I have been experimenting with the colors a lot, and I am still working on it.
OK. I changed the colors. Does it look better?

i was talking about a yellow shine around white text. but the color combination right now is already suggesting heat so i think that's good now. i'm just not too fond with a plain colored text. but let others also comment about that.

Looks good, I especially like the actual red heart material. It looks very nice.
The letters are a bit hard to read, they don't stand out very well. You could try something like white now that it's mostly yellow and red. I would also advise that you have the A face the camera, as its hard to read currently.
As a final comment, the tube with the fire coming up seems slightly awkward to me. Something such as the heart envelopped in flame would seem more appealing in my opinion.
