Andalite image

Much of this will be a copy and paste, for those who didnt follow my other thread.

What seems like forever ago me and a handful of people were planing to do an Animorphs Fan film completely in CG. long story short, all that fell through. (you can read the long version on my blog here if you like)

So while nothing really came out of that project, I did have a number of assets still. while searching on youtube I stumbled on this guy, Adam Hawker, who was working on an Animorphs fan film in live action, so I offered to help out with some of the ships, and that led to pretty much all the 3d stuff he would need, including creatures. and since I already had an andalite model I animated some shots of dialogue between Visser 3 and Alfangor. In October of 2007 he posted a rough cut of the first 10 mins on youtube. check it out

http://www.youtube.com/v/Nc0RH125gCU&rel=0 if you want. (keep in mind a lot of those shots have since been redone)

A while back my hard drive died, I'm back at square one. So after much procrastination I restarted modeling my andalite, and here's what I have at the moment.

Compared to my last attempt this is much better, but it still has ways to go.

Ive been trying to research centaurs to get a better on idea of the anatomy. One good thing Ive seen was a behind the scenes footage of Narnia, which I think was the most convincing centaurs to date. I'll look to horse galloping footage to animation reference once I get this done and rigged.

I hope to add more defined muscles and maybe some ribs, however I need it to stay clean for animation. so I might end up faking some of it with textures.

But yeah, please let me know if you think something sticks out to you.
for anyone unfamiliar with the series, this is an andalite.

This is the hand Ive been working on lately. still needs work, but even getting this far is pretty good for me. (Ive only done one other hand before)

If I want it to be accurate to andalites it'll need one more digit, a second smaller pinky basically, but it doesnt exactly take priority. Im not sure I would even be able to get it to look right. but we'll see, I might add it, might not.

What do you think of this piece?

Looks like you have a good start there! I can't tell you about the hand not showing up, but perhaps i can give a few pointers on the anatomy.

Currently the pecs looks somewhat oddly shaped to me. Take a look at your reference image, or other reference images around the web, that is, I'm assuming you want him to look stronger and more built. Therefore I'd make the pecs more defined, but also be sure to look at the shape. The arm's look pretty good, though the bend in the arm (perhaps it's the rigging?) looks a bit odd. Could we see the wireframe?

I look forward to what you come up with!

Hello Kyle! How did you upload your hand picture? Have you read the *very important* CGN Beginner's Guide book yet? I'll be able to help you get everything working.

The older beta version of this site didnt show the hand pic/wire, when trying to get it to work I gave up and deleted the attatchment. since the relaunch they seem to work now, but aparantly only as a clickable link, not a thumbnail. is that supposed to be the case?

I'll post wires soon,. my hand has since been tweaked anyway.
